THE TURNING

The turn is made up of a rotary tray called "Girelle". Having disposed a clod of loam in the centre of the plateau, parents not centre sa earth then manufactures it.

Turning allows to acquire only rooms of revolution, which can however be distorted later.

These pieces are lighter than those you by other techniques (except molding).

Molding requires an extended technical study, it is a job in itself.

THE DRYING

The drying, natural or speeded up by aeration and/or heating, allows the evacuation of the almost entirety of the water of hewing.

It is all the more delicate and long that dimensions are important and complex forms.

1rst BAKING (Biscuit)
For baking, they put the different rooms acquired before in an oven in a temperature of 850 in 1000°C during about 8 hours.

They acquire a "biscuit" then (in the case of faience) or a "smart" (for sandstone).
DECORATION & ENAMEL
Pieces can be decorated in the brush with the aid of oxides of different colours..

The biscuit, so decorated, is dipped into a bath of enamel.
They differentiate two techniques allowing to accomplish an enamel on an earth: the covering and glaçures.
2nd BAKING
Once decorated and interspersed, the room is delayed in the oven in 960°C for 5 hours for faience. The rooms of sandstone or porcelain interspersed are cooked between 1250 and 1400°C.
